2017 BMB Holiday Party

On December 16th, 2017, the BMB Department celebrated its annual Holiday Party at the Saint Louis Zoo. Everyone enjoyed the Zoo Wild Lights display, great food and a game of Rudolf the red-nose reindeer.

Single Molecule Workshop: Structural Dynamics of Biomolecules and 34th Robert E. Olson Lecture

The Single Molecule Workshop will be held at Saint Louis University, in the Education Union Auditorium, on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017.

Frontiers in Molecular Medicine and 34th Robert E. Olson Lecture

Speakers include Enrico Di Cera, M.D., Colin Nichols, Ph.D., Frances Yap, Ph.D., Yann Chemla, Ph.D., Kathleen Hall, Ph.D., and Beniamino Barbieri, Ph.D.

24th Annual Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology (BBSB) Graduate Student Retreat

The Annual BBSB retreat was held on October 20th and 21st, 2017 at the Cedar Creek. This year the keynote speakers were: Drs. Andrea Soranno and Rui Zhang, Assistant Professors in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. Dr. Soranno presented on “Single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy of intrinsically disordered proteins”. Dr. Zhang presented on “What can you do with cryo-EM”. Friday evening concluded with a poster session. In addition to the two keynote speakers, various students presented talks on their research during the day on Friday and Saturday. (more…)

Pedal the Cause – Happy Hour Fundraiser

Please join us for a Happy Hour at itap in the Central West End to raise money for cancer research! Sixty percent of sales of the designated beer will be donated (beer TBA). Feel free to stay around after Happy Hour for itap’s weekly trivia night too!

2017 Carl and Gerty Cori Lecture


Dr. Taekjip Ha presented this year’s Carl and Gerty Cori Lecture on February 28, 2017 in Connor Auditorium, Farrell Learning and Teaching Center.
Dr. Taekjip Ha is a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University and an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. (more…)
