Scanning System

 

            The scanning system consists of an X-Y-Z piezoelectric stage, a digital stage controller/driver, and adapters to mount the stage to the microscope platform and extend the objective height to compensate for the additional stage height. Images are acquired by moving the sample stage while keeping the excitation beam fixed.

 

Stage:

            Polytec P.I. E-527CL X-Y-Z piezoelectric stage with 66 x 66 mm clear aperture.

            Capacitive sensors for feedback control.

            Travel Range 200 x 200 x 20 microns.

            Maximum stage speed (when used with E-710 controller/driver) 30Hz.

           

Controller/Driver:

            Polytec P.I. E-710 4-channel controller with sensor input.

            32-bit DSP, 200msec sample time feedback loop.

            Resolution less than 1nm.

            Labview library for program control.

            RS-232 and IEEE 488 (GPIB) control interfaces.

                        Note: Other control options (including a hardware interface) have recently become available and are highly recommended.
