2010 Dr. Peter Burgers Receives Honorary Doctorate in Medicine

On October 23, Dr. Peter Burgers received an honorary doctorate in Medicine from Umeå University, Sweden. In his tribute, the dean of Umeå School of Medicine Bengt Jårvholm praised Dr. Burgers’ internationally recognized scientific contributions to the fields of DNA replication and DNA damage response mechanisms, his strong support for international collaborations, and his valuable mentoring of faculty members at Umeå University. As part of the festivities, Peter gave a scientific lecture at the University, and a general lecture for the Umeå community entitled “Genomes at Risk: Search and Rescue Operations”.
