Congratulations to Melissa Arenz for being awarded the 2024 Jayma Mikes Departmental Service Award!

Mrs. Arenz was publicly recognized of this well-deserved award on May 20th, 2024 at the BMB Departmental Retreat.

Mrs. Arenz was nominated by Dr. Michael Greenberg for her unwavering dedication to departmental activities and focus on cultivating a positive and supportive environment. With her attention to detail, empathetic leadership, meticulous organizational skills, and vast knowledge of the university. Mrs. Arenz has warmly welcomed and fostered a positive and inclusive environment for new staff, trainees and faculty alike. She is involved in almost all departmental activities – either directly or indirectly – and has been instrumental to their seamless execution.

Furthermore, Mrs. Arenz’ remarkable efforts as a diversity and inclusion representative have been paramount in promoting a diverse pool of seminar speakers and organizing professionalism seminars.

For those that are new to BMB, the Jayma Mikes Service award is a departmental award that will recognize a member of the department who has made a significant contribution to the well-being of the department through support, service and promotion of diversity and inclusion.
