2015 – DeGutis Award

Robin Shields Cutler
On June 9, 2015, Robin Shields-Cutler was awarded the 2015 Ceil M. DeGutis Prize in Chemical Biology/Medicinal Chemistry. Robin presented his research at the DeGutis Presentation on June 9th entitled: How the human urinary metabolome supercharges antimicrobial defenses. The DeGutis award is presented to a senior graduate student, in their fifth or sixth year of graduate study, who has made a significant contribution to the field of Chemical Biology or Medicinal Chemistry disciplines broadly defined. A $250 cash prize and plaque is presented in the awardee.

2015 Biophysical Society Fellow and Distinguished Faculty at WUSM

Congratulations to Dr. Timothy Lohman. Dr. Lohman is being honored for his pioneering biophysical studies of the mechanisms and energetics of protein-DNA interactions, including the enzymology and kinetic mechanisms of DNA helicases and translocases, and single stranded DNA binding proteins. The awards ceremony was held at the Biophysical Society’s 59th Annual Meeting in February 2015.

Dr. Lohman was also selected as a Distinguished Faculty Member at Washington University School of Medicine. The awards ceremony was held on February 18, 2015. A YouTube of the presentation can be found here.

2014 – Holiday Party

Our Holiday Party was held on December 19th in the King Center. This year we had a family party which included a duplos/legos table and a special visit from Santa. 2014 – Carl and Gerty Cori Lecture

HHMI Dr. Joan Steitz

Dr. Joan Steitz was selected as this year’s Carl and Gerty Cori Lecturer. She is the Sterling Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Chemistry and an HHMI Investigator at Yale University School of Medicine.
